Now might be time to address the inability of kids to read/write cursive. Up to you but decoding handwriting is a skill needed to dig into the past. Documents were not always typed. We are entering a world of ephemeral communications between folk - the letter, even typed, is gone. Will make future sociologists unable to understand day-to-day life

So what do your kids, your friends feel about our grand new world? An essay to come?

All good points, HardeeHo.

How did you stumble upon my new foray into the world of Substack authors?

I find at my too quickly advancing age that I must abandon some of the physical activities I always enjoyed, such as an occasional jog with my much more athletic and much younger wife.

But my brain still insists that I continue to explore my love for our language, and how powerful was our ability as humans to develop language and pass on to others the hard won experiences of our elders, which finally resulted in our ability to print books and thus pass on to others all the good and the bad of our species.

Perhaps we might collaborate on such a forward looking essay.
